Volunteer Community Spotlight

This year, USAGSO introduced a new Community Spotlight recognition as part of the Powered by Connection Silent Auction. Communities were invited to create and donate a Silent Auction Community Bundle valued at $100 (USD) or more, showcasing the unique culture, experiences, traditions and connections that make their community special.

The community whose bundle received the highest winning bid earned the distinction of becoming USAGSO's featured Community Spotlight. This recognition celebrates the creativity, generosity and community spirit reflected in the bundle, while providing an opportunity to share the story of that community with the broader USAGSO family.

As the inaugural recipient of this new recognition, the Paris Community earned the highest-purchased Community Auction Bundle and became the first community to receive a dedicated Community Spotlight page. Their award also includes a website feature, a $250 Amazon gift card and recognition toward Honor Community status.

We are thrilled to celebrate Paris as the very first Community Spotlight Community and look forward to recognizing future communities that bring the Power of Connection to life through this special initiative.

Paris Community
Serving girls in Paris, France

About the Community
The USAGSO Paris Girl Scout community serves girls and families in the Paris region, as well as in other parts of France. Many of the families are bi-cultural - one parent being American and the other of another nationality. USAGSO Paris also has families who are part of the embassy, Department of Defense and globally-mobile families.

For some families, USAGSO Paris provides a connection to their American heritage while for others, who may experience frequent relocations and changing schools and cultures, Girl Scouts offers girls something steady - a place to build friendships, develop leadership skills and feel a sense of belonging.

Through troop meetings, community events, service projects and outdoor adventures, our volunteer-led community helps ensure girls in their region experience the very best of Girl Scouting.

The Paris Community is powered by a dedicated team of volunteers who give their time, talents and energy to create meaningful Girl Scout experiences for girls and families throughout the region.

From coordinating events and supporting troop leaders to welcoming new families, managing community operations and creating opportunities for girls to learn and grow, these volunteers are the heart of the Paris Girl Scout experience.

Like many USAGSO communities around the world, the work of the Paris Community is made possible through the collective efforts of volunteers serving in both leadership and support roles. Their commitment helps build a strong, connected community where girls can discover their strengths, develop leadership skills and create lifelong memories.

Together, they create opportunities for girls to learn, grow, explore and lead.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the many volunteers who make Girl Scouting in Paris possible.

One of the many ways the Paris Community supported USAGSO’s mission this year was through its participation in the Powered by Connection Silent Auction.

Their featured auction experience showcased the culture, artistry and culinary traditions that make Paris so special. The centerpiece of the package was an exclusive Le Cordon Bleu Macaron Workshop for Two, offering participants the opportunity to learn the art of creating classic French macarons at the world-renowned Le Cordon Bleu Paris.

Hosted in the stunning Hôtel de la Marine, overlooking the historic Place de la Concorde, this hands-on experience provides rare access to a professional culinary classroom led by Le Cordon Bleu chefs. The package also included two copies of the Le Cordon Bleu Confectionery Recipe Book, allowing participants to recreate and enjoy their Parisian experience long after returning home.

Through this unique contribution, the Paris Community shared a taste of French culture while helping raise critical support for Girl Scouts Overseas. Their creativity, generosity and commitment to connection helped bring the spirit of Paris to supporters around the world.

One of the things that makes every USAGSO community special is the unique traditions and programs they create for girls. The Paris Community has developed a wonderful collection of local patch programs that connect Girl Scouts with the rich history, culture and traditions of France.

One of the Paris Community's signature patch programs is Two Nations, One Friendship, which explores the enduring friendship between France and the United States.

Through this educational experience, girls discover the important role France played in supporting the United States during the Revolutionary War and learn how that historic partnership helped shape our shared history.

As the United States celebrates America250, commemorating the 250th anniversary of the nation's independence, this program offers a timely opportunity for girls to connect history with the values of friendship, service and international cooperation.

Watch the video below to learn more about the history behind the patch and the inspiration for this unique Paris Community program.
