Blending outdoor adventure with hands-on STEM discovery.
Adelboden, Switzerland – Last week, Girl Scouts from around the globe came together for an unforgettable adventure at Camp USAGSO’s first session of summer camp since the pandemic. Located in the Alps of Switzerland, more than 70 campers and counselors stayed at the Our Chalet, the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) World Centre in Switzerland. Girl Scouts explored the outdoors, built friendships across borders, and got to experience hands-on activities as part of the STEMinist series launch at summer camp!
From building solar ovens and testing circuits to learning about renewable energy and the science of the natural world, Girl Scouts discovered how STEM connects to camp life and everyday experiences. The STEMinist series reflects USA Girl Scouts Overseas’ (USAGSO) commitment to giving girls hands-on, globally minded opportunities to lead with courage, confidence, and character.
“Camp is where curiosity meets courage,” said Taryn Rimland, Program & Adult Development Coordinator at USAGSO. “By combining traditional Girl Scout experiences with innovative STEM programming, we’re helping girls see themselves as leaders in every field—including science and technology, and even in the middle of the Swiss Alps.”
And the adventure isn’t over yet! USAGSO will be offering STEMinist programming at future week-long camps, including the final week taking place in Germany, August 10–16.
STEM Superheroes is proud to serve as the official program partner for the STEMinist series, bringing hands-on STEM experiences to Girl Scouts worldwide. Learn more at www.stemsuperheroes.com
