To celebrate Engineering Week and the power of creativity, USAGSO hosted its very first STEMinist Lego Build event- in person! Hosted in partnership with the SHAPE International Library in Belgium, nearly 75 British Sea Scouts, Girl Scouts and Scouts of America gathered to build, design and explore the world of LEGO engineering.
Activities at this event included:
✔ A free build to let imaginations run wild!
✔ Complete master Lego sets from Minecraft to Frozen
✔ Collaborative building of the Lego Movie set, a nearly 3,000 piece Lego set!
✔ Make & take home their very own Lego creation!
✔ Earning a fun patch to show off their engineering skills!
British Sea Scouts, Girl Scouts, and Scouts of America all joined forces to build & create with LEGO®, and have a blast together. It wasn’t just about Lego—it was about making new friends and exploring engineering together. Leaders and volunteers got to interact too, sharing resources and local experts that will help youth earn their badges.
Lego isn’t just about snapping bricks together—it’s about thinking like an engineer! When children build with Lego, they plan, test and improve—just like real engineers do. They are encouraged to imagine new possibilities, just as engineers do when brainstorming solutions to real-world problems.
Engineering Through Play
Playing with Lego is more than just fun—it helps everyone learn important skills like problem-solving, design and creativity. This was just the beginning—who’s ready for the next STEMinist Lego Build?
