STEMinist Celebrates 100- Honoring 100 Years of USA Girl Scouts Overseas and Our Growing STEM Sisterhood

As we celebrate 100 years of USA Girl Scouts Overseas (USAGSO) this summer, we’re also celebrating every Girl Scout who has tried something new, solved a challenging problem or dreamed a little bigger because of her STEMinist journey.
USAGSO’s STEMinist program sparks curiosity, builds confidence and makes a difference in the lives of Girl Scouts all over the world through exciting science, technology, engineering and math experiences! During each program, Girl Scouts experience STEM with a superhero – a real-life woman in a STEM profession.
While our STEMinist program isn’t 100 years old (yet!), we have plenty of “100” milestones that show just how much we’ve accomplished by connecting Girl Scouts with real-life STEM superheroes.
Here are just a few of our STEMinist 100 highlights:
Experiencing STEM & Making
- 100+ Girl Scouts explored STEM careers by asking questions and participating in hands-on activities with real-life STEM professionals!
- 100+ Girl Scouts earned a Robotics badge, learning how robots work and building their own!
- 100+ Girl Scouts earned Space Science badges, learning all about our universe at the Euro Space Center.
- 100+ Girl Scouts experienced the magic of STEM at camp — creating a 'make-and-take' STEM project while at camp!
STEMinist Around the World
- 100+ Girl Scouts in Switzerland, Germany, Taiwan and Mexico harnessed the power of the sun thanks to Brown Dog Gadget’s solar bugs and racers.
- 100+ Girl Scouts in the West Pacific region discovered the power of science and technology through experiments like making a coin battery and milk resin jewelry.
- 100+ Girl Scouts in the Middle East are about to make history by joining the very first in-person STEMinist program delivered in the region next year.
- 100+ Girl Scouts said that this program has sparked or furthered their interest in STEM!
