Ten years ago, in October 2016, Stall Catchers launched as the first citizen science project gamified to fight Alzheimer’s disease. Since then, hundreds of thousands of catchers of all ages, from around the world, have taken part and helped power real research along the way.
And for the past five years, Girl Scouts and Stall Catchers have been catching together! Through our partnership with Stall Catchers, Girl Scouts around the world have had the opportunity to contribute to real scientific research while learning about citizen science, Alzheimer's research, and the power of collective action.
Now, Stall Catchers is celebrating its 10th anniversary, and we want Girl Scouts to be part of the celebration!
Join the October Anniversary Catch-a-Thon!
You don't have to wait for a special Girl Scout event to start catching. Join the Stall Catchers 10th Anniversary Global Catch-a-Thon this October and help celebrate a decade of citizen science!
Catch all month, starting with the October kickoff. Gather your troop, family, friends, or community and see how many vessels you can catch. Every minute you spend catching contributes to the collective effort to help researchers move Alzheimer’s research forward.
The top 10 catchers will win a Stall Catchers 10-year anniversary T-shirt, with winners announced at the October 30 celebration.
And if you want to make catching a social event, Stall Catchers is bringing back in-person pizza parties! Host a meetup and they’ll reimburse your pizza expenses up to $50. Don’t forget to add your meetup to SciStarter as an event.
Girl Scouts can also earn special recognition along the way!
