Month of the Military Child is a time when we recognize our military children and their resiliency as they experience ongoing transitions and deployments. Military kids serve too, and we are so proud of our military Girl Scouts overseas!
In honor of our military Girl Scouts, USAGSO is offering a full month of FREE programs and special opportunities. Here’s what’s in store!
Taste
the World — Celebrate Month of the Military Child, Making MREs
Delicious, April 1
During this session, Staff Sargent
Ricardo Cabrera will introduce us to meals ready to eat (MREs). A MRE
is a self-contained, individual field ration in lightweight packaging
provided by the United States Department of Defense for its service
members for use when other food is not available. While MREs aren’t
known to be a gourmet option, they can actually be quiet delicious
with the right mix of ingredients and preparation. Staff Sargent
Cabrera will show us how!
Military
Career Exploration, April 15
Join us as we meet women in
the military and learn more about their careers in service to our
country! In this panel conversation, Girl Scouts will learn about some
of the most accomplished women in the military, both the hardships and
advantages of being a woman in the military, what kinds of jobs women
can do in today’s military, and what it’s like to serve our country.
College
and Career Preparedness with Embry Riddle, April 22
Join
USA Girl Scouts Overseas and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University as
we take a peek at life after high school! Whether you’re thinking of
heading off to college, jumping right into the workforce, or perhaps
even taking a gap year, this program will give you the tools you need
to be successful in your future endeavours.
Women
in Space!, April 29
Join USA Girl Scouts Overseas and
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University as we meet significant female
role models and learn about their journey into STEM careers! We’ll
explore what it’s like working at NASA, from the Apollo Mission to the
Artemis Mission, returning to the Moon in 2024.
Military Membership Incentive
Attend a USAGSO Month of the Military Child program and purchase
or renew your 2023 - 2024 membership and receive $10 off. With the
discount, girl memberships are $35 and volunteer memberships are $15.
Extended Year memberships are also eligible!
Also,
military affiliated girls who attend the program will receive a free
Month of the Military Child patch and be entered into raffle for a
Month of the Military child prize pack.
