Celebrate Month of the Military Child 2024!

April 01, 2024

April marks the start of the Month of the Military Child 2024, an annual celebration honoring the children of military service members. This month-long celebration recognizes the challenges, sacrifices and successes of the nearly two million military children across the six branches of the US military.

USAGSO is celebrating throughout the entirety of April with fun and free events for all Girl Scouts! See the lineup and register today to participate and get your Month of the Military Child fun patch for participating Girl Scouts!

We are kicking the month off with a military career panel on April 6th, where participants can hear from amazing women who have served in the military and learn about different military careers! This is a virtual discussion that is open to all program grade levels (Girl Scout Daisies through Ambassadors) and adult volunteers. On April 13th, join Staff Sergeant Ricardo Cabrera for a special Taste the World session and learn how to make a DFAC (Dining Facilities Administration Center) Breakfast.

On April 13th, our monthly STEMinist session features the work of project engineer Lourdes Spurlock, a Navy Veteran. Spurlock works for Apex Clean Energy, our proud sponsor for the USAGSO 2024 Month of the Military Child events.

To end the month-long celebration, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is hosting a special women in space event, Life Beyond Earth, on April 27th! Learn about inspiring women in stem who have impactful careers and the role of women in space science. There will be several in-person watch parties scheduled for the livestream, so check the event details to see if there is one near you!

Thanks to the generous support of Apex Clean Energy, military families who sign up for an event will receive a free Month of the Military Child fun patch for each Girl Scout registered! USAGSO’s 2024 Month of the Military Child fun patch was designed by Penelope H., a Daisy from Iwakuni!

Did you know that the official emblem of the Month of the Military Child is a dandelion? Dandelion seeds are blown far and wide by the wind, but they will always plant roots and blossom wherever they land!
