Extended Year Membership

The Extended Year Membership (EYM) is an option for both NEW and FORMER*** members and allows for them to join at a prorated price of $35 for adults and $60 for girls**. Current members will not be able to take advantage of EYM, as their current membership already covers participation this summer.

This price includes membership for the current and following year. This option gives families a one-time incentive to start Girl Scouts in the summer and then continue participation into the fall for a troop experience. The EYM option is available from April 1, 2021 through  July 31, 2021.

If you register with USAGSO and find out you are moving, we will be happy to transfer your membership to a stateside council or another overseas community.

**A Council Service Fee of $25 is applied to girls' membership.

*** For this year only the GSUSA board has voted to allow former members to purchase an extended year membership.

Why should I register during COVID-19?

While the current situation is one we have not faced before and has changed the programmatic landscape for many of our members, USAGSO is still here and still operating in many of our overseas locations. A lot of troops are meeting virtually and Girl Scouts are still gaining those fantastic leadership skills, even if the setting has changed a bit. Many of our Girl Scouts have enjoyed their virtual troop meetings as a way to touch base with their friends and gain new skills--and just enjoy being a Girl Scout!

Most of our overseas troops start to meet before the start of the Girl Scout Membership Year on October 1. If your Girl Scout joins as an EYM right now, she can participate with her troop as soon as things get back to normal.

Additionallly, Girl Scouts of the USA has developed some great virtual programming, either through the Volunteer Toolkit or through the new GIrl Scouts at Home initiative. USAGSO also has a whole list of virutal resources, which can be found on our COVID-19 Resources page.

And don't worry, If your family moves to a new overseas community or back to the United States after registering as EYM, your membership moves with you! Visit our Membership Moves page for more information on how to transfer your membership
