What do girls learn from selling cookies?

For many girls, the cookie sale is their first experience in setting goals and working with others in a team. Girls learn to meet and greet people, and keep accurate financial records. Girls have fun while building self-confidence and learning important life skills.

How do girls feel about participating in the cookie sale?

Most girls look forward to the annual cookie sale because they see it as "part of the tradition of being a Girl Scout." They also know that proceeds from the sale will help support their activities during the rest of the year. Each girl is challenged to do the best that she can do, to achieve the sense of accomplishment that comes with knowing she contributed to her troop, her Overseas Community, and USAGSO.

What is the role of parents, guardians, and other family members in the cookie sale?

Parents and other family members support Girl Scouts during the cookie sale. They provide transportation or assist volunteers with logistics. USAGSO encourages parents to work in partnership with their daughters, supporting girls in their sales activities so that they may take full advantage of the learning experiences offered.

How does the cookie sale relate to the mission of Girl Scouting?

The cookie sale helps girls develop self-confidence and teaches them important skills such as goal setting and teamwork. This is integral to the Girl Scout mission, which is to help girls from all segments of society realize their potential and become resourceful citizens.

What is the number one reason people don’t buy Girl Scout cookies?

They were never asked! 95% of people say they will buy Girl Scout cookies if asked, and 73% would purchase multiple boxes.

Can Juliettes/Individually Registered Members (IRMs) participate in in-person cookie sales?

Typically, we don't have a lot of Juliettes participating in the cookie sales. However, if you have a Juliette in your community, or are a Juliette associated with a cookie-selling overseas community, please contact your Overseas Committee in order to be paired up with a troop during the cookie-selling season. There are two option for interested Juliettes:

Only earn the incentives – this is an easier option for a girl who wants to participate in the program, but doesn't have time to do troop activities. With this option, the Juliette would set her own goal and receive the prizes during a troop meeting (or can pick it up from a member of their Overseas Committee).
Earn the incentives and participate in the spring/summer activities supported by the raised cookie money. This option allows the Juliette to briefly be part of a troop and have fun benefiting from the raised funds.
