Preparing for Girl Scouts Upcoming System Downtime

Earlier this month, we shared information about our upcoming system refresh and plans to debut an enhanced member account management system. It’s true! Girl Scouts is on track to pull back the curtain and Go-Live with myAccount in early December—just a short time away—and we want to make sure that our volunteer and member communities are ready!

While much of the downtime period is set to occur the week of Thanksgiving, a time when troops and volunteers often take a break to be with family and friends, we know that Girl Scouts and volunteers are always on the go and we want to make sure that you are aware of the downtime, its potential to impact your Girl Scout plans, and steps you can take before November 18th to prevent any surprises.

Starting November 18 at 11:59 PM EST, Girl Scouts will begin system-wide updates that will temporarily restrict the ability to complete many volunteer and member related tasks and pause access to :

  • Volunteer Toolkit (VTK)
  • gsLearn (volunteer online training platform)
  • myGS
  • Looker (service unit admin team reporting resource)
  • New membership registrations and membership renewals

All Members

myGS- Your online Girl Scout account, myGS, will be unavailable November 18 through approximately December 7. All users should take care to visit and review your account, update household information (if needed), and renew any expired memberships before November 18. Watch for an email from Girl Scouts in early December announcing the debut of our refreshed member account management system, updated login information, and instructions on how to access your refreshed Girl Scout account (myAccount).

Troop Leaders

Volunteer Toolkit- To make sure you are prepared to lead meetings and communicate with families, consider downloading a copy of your troop roster as well as any meeting plans scheduled between November 18 and mid-December.

gsLearn- Our online adult training platform will also be unavailable during this down-time. Be sure to log into your gsLearn account and complete your assigned trainings prior to November 18. Live sessions such as the Troop Scoop and BOOM webinars, New Troop Leader Orientation, and Return to In-Person Meetings will continue to be held in ZOOM while the Girl Scout systems are down. Please be sure to register for these in gsLearn prior to November 16th. We will email connection details to all registered participants using rosters downloaded from gsLearn on November 17th before the system becomes inaccessible. If you forget to register by November 16th and/or do not receive an email, we will also share connection details in the USAGSO OCMT and/or Volunteer Facebook groups.

New membership registrations and membership renewals- Registrations in the Girl Scout online system will be unavailable during this time; however, members can register or renew their membership with USAGSO by using these online forms: ADULT, GIRL. Registrations will be processed in the online system by USAGSO after December 7, but members may begin Girl Scouting as soon as the online form and registration fees are submitted to USAGSO.

OCMT Members

Looker- Looker, our online reporting system for OCMT members, will be unavailable starting November 20. Please download any reports, such as community rosters, that you may need during this down time. Looker will be back online and pulling current data from the updated system after December 7.

Volunteer Toolkit- While VTK access won’t directly impact you in your role as OCMT, please be aware that Troop Leaders will not have access to their rosters and lesson plans in the VTK while the system is down. We are encouraging all Troop Leaders to download this content prior to November 18.

gsLearn- Our online adult training platform will also be unavailable during this down-time. Be sure to log into your gsLearn account and complete your assigned trainings prior to November 18.
