The USAGSO Council of Advisors Development Committee is pleased to announce the call for National Council Delegates to represent USAGSO at the 2023 National Council Session/56th Convention, July 16-23, in Orlando, Florida.
Every three years, Girl Scouts from all over the country gather together at the National Council Session and Convention to reinvigorate our membership, deepen our commitment to our Movement, and celebrate our successes. Together, we will:
- Engage in conversations on important topics facing Girl Scouts and all girls;
- Participate in an array of educational and inspirational opportunities; and
- Network, mingle and renew friendships, while we celebrate the work we do together.
The 2023 National Council Session/56th Convention in Orlando, Florida, promises to honor our cherished traditions and, at the same time, propel the Movement forward for girls and young women. In addition to conducting the business of the Movement, GSUSA will host the 2023 Convention July 21-23. This mega event will provide attendees with unforgettable experiences as they gain inspiration, tools to empower themselves, and the know-how to lead change in their communities – connecting with some of the most influential women in the world along the way. Stay tuned for more information.
Every Girl Scout council is entitled to send a specified number of delegates (USAGSO will send six) to serve as voting members of the National Council and to assume one of the major rights and most serious responsibilities in Girl Scouting, which include actively participating at the meeting in floor debates, and discussing and voting on proposals dealing with governance issues that further and ensure the mission of Girl Scouts. National Council Delegates and Alternates are selected by our CoA Development Committee from the applications received. The applicants will then be presented on a single slate to the Council of Advisors for adoption in March 2022.
The National Council is responsible for giving broad policy direction to the future of the Girl Scout Movement in the United States. Members of the National Council elect the National Board of Directors and the National Nominating Committee for the upcoming triennium, act on proposals directed toward the fostering and improvement of Girl Scouting and receive a report from the National Board of Directors on its stewardship of the Movement in the past three years.
