USAGSO Campership Guidelines and Processes

USA Girl Scouts Overseas is committed to ensuring every girl has the opportunity to participate in camp. Although funds are limited, we strive to provide enough support so no girl is denied an outdoor experience due to lack of funds.

Click here to access the Campership Application. For general information on Camperships, please read the FAQs below.

Awards are based on financial need and/or special circumstances at the girl level, not the troop level. Applications must be completed by the individual and any applications submitted on behalf of the troop itself will not be accepted.

At times, a family may not qualify for financial assistance under the income guidelines, but may have extenuating circumstances that the council will consider when determining eligibility and award amounts. In that case, the circumstances must be clearly explained for consideration.

Families who have received financial assistance in previous membership years will not be guaranteed financial assistance for future membership years.

Is financial assistance available?

Typically “Camperships” are available on a first-come, first-served basis for USA Girl Scouts Overseas registered members whose financial circumstances might otherwise prevent them from attending camp. In order to apply for assistance, you must register and pay a deposit to hold your spot, then apply for your campership via our online application. Financial aid applications will be accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis, or until funds are exhausted.

Applying for Camperships

Typically, registrants will be responsible for paying the initial deposit to secure camp reservations as well as the difference between the Campership amount and cost of the camp. However, we understand that there are extenuating circumstances and if you need more assistance, please send us an email with any questions.

Review Process

Applications will be reviewed and processed, within 10-15 business days. Please wait the allotted time before contacting the office for a status update. Applications will be reviewed and awarded until all award funds are exhausted.

Upon completion of the review process, a letter will be emailed to the applicant communicating one of the following:

Approval – full amount of the requested award has been approved.

Amended Approval – Financial assistance was awarded, but at an amended amount.

Denial – Financial assistance was denied for a specific reason(s), and an explanation will be given.

Incomplete – part of the application was determined to be incomplete or insufficient, and the applicant will need to provide further clarification. Applicants may resubmit the application with the requested information.

Funds Exhausted – Application was received after all award funds have been used.
