Camp Lachenwald

Camp Lachenwald

For over 65 years, Girl Scouts from all over the world have participated in Camp Lachenwald. Camp Lachenwald is a premier overseas camping experience where campers spend time in the Great Outdoors, exploring nature and so much more, all while making lifelong friendships and Girl Scout memories.

In 2019 Camp Lachenwald will be held at a Youth hostel located in Schmitten-Oberreifenberg Germany.  Surrounded by forest, this youth camp is a short walk from the ruins of Königstein Castle.

In "Memory of Maxine":

This year at Camp Lachenwald, we have a special camp scholarship to provide financial assistance to campers attending Camp Lachenwald. This scholarship was established to honor Maxine Dowell by those who worked with her when she was the Director of Camp Lachenwald during the summer of 1973.

To learn more about Maxine and understand the reason why the "Memory of Maxine" scholarship is so special, please read this letter from one of Maxine's "girls". USAGSO is so happy to help share the impact and memory of Maxine with our fellow Girl Scout sisters.
