Volunteer Training Weekend
Friday, March 22, 6:00pm (UK time) – Sunday, March 24, 11:00am (UK time)
Join us in Alconbury for a weekend full of training designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge necessary to take your Girl Scouts outside! We'll cover fire building and outdoor cooking, tent camping, orienteering, leave no trace concepts, and more!
On Friday evening and Sunday morning, choose your own adventure from a wide variety of enrichment training that best meet your needs. Baffled by MyGS and VTK? Have girls preparing to earn their Bronze, Silver, or Gold Award? Want to add a new certification to your portfolio? Then we've got something for you!
A thorough confirmation email with all the details you need to prepare for the weekend will be sent no later than 2-weeks prior to the event. In the meantime, here are some helpful notes to help you get ready:
- The only “specialized” equipment needed for the overnight is a tent, sleeping bag, and mess kit. Alconbury’s Outdoor Rec has equipment available to rent on a first come, first served basis. If you know you’ll need to rent something, please contact them ASAP. Click here for information on their equipment prices and contact list.
- The Outdoor portion of the weekend will take place on the campground/outdoor pavilion at RAF Molesworth, approximately 2-hours north of London. The other sessions (Take Action and Leader Tips) will take place in classrooms on RAF Alconbury, just 20-minutes east of Molesworth.
- You do need a military ID card to access both the campsite and classrooms. Volunteers without a military ID will need to bring their passport to the training and be signed on by a Girl Scout designee.
Watch for additional details in the confirmation email. We are looking forward to seeing you there! If you have any other questions, please contact us.
